The successful candidate would be responsible for a team of support workers including their direct supervision, as well as the day-to-day running of the home. You will also support, assist Team Leader and Registered Manager.

As a Residential Support Care Worker, you will work within a team to support the needs of each young person. It is your role to provide a supporting, caring, and safe environment for all young people in our homes. On a daily basis you will be supporting and encouraging your team and young people with educational development, addressing any performance issues, and promoting a healthy lifestyle and ensure the health and wellbeing of the young people in the home.

Using your experience and knowledge of complex sexualised and emotional behaviours, autism, ADHD, and / or learning disabilities care you will support others to deliver excellent outcomes for young people, enabling them to lead fulfilling and purposeful lives. You will:

• promote partnership with parents and carers as directed by the Children Act and other relevant legislation. Meet the standards set out on Quality Care Standards

• plan and prepare children and young people for admission to and discharge from residential care. Support in advocating for their needs and wishes

• work together with all relevant professionals and agencies in the assessment and implementation of plans to meet the needs of children and young people

• prepare, implement and review programmes for individual children and young people and where appropriate assess and plan for young people to gain independence skills in the preparation for leaving care

• support young people to participate in life long plans

• assist children and young people to manage their behavioural difficulties or particular vulnerabilities

• support and consistently apply strategies and work within set guidelines

• undertake relevant training underpinned by the service ideology and in meeting the mandatory training needs

• commit to own self-development

• attend and participate in staff meetings as required

• make a positive contribution to meeting and contribute to the development of a good team

• visit parental / carers home, school, colleges and other settings as required as part of care worker role

• support less experienced staff by offering advice, guidance and support.

• facilitate meetings as part of shift role with young people which allow them to have a say in the running of the home

• promote choice and involvement, act as an advocate for young people

• understand and support others to understand and implement young people’s plans

• carry out personal care for young people in line with their This Is Me plans

• self-monitor and manage accuracy and timely completion of young people’s information, ensuring This Is Me plans are accurately maintained

• ensure young people's timetables are accurately reflected on the paperless software

• ensure Safeguarding procedures are followed keeping young people safe from risk of harm and / or abuse

• ensure that young people’s health needs are met including medication administration

• ensure young people’s clothing / shoes, possessions and personal finances are safely managed

• Undertake responsibilities for assigned young people.

As a specialist service, we will provide a critical first-line child protection and safeguarding service. All of our staff are required to show high levels of resilience, empathy, compassion and resourcefulness in order to work successfully with our young people.­­

Your effective self-discipline oversee self-organisation, self-management and delivers the best possible care to the young people who will live at the home. The outstanding service will be delivered with effective and professional verbal and non-verbal communication and administration. You will make sure that the Ofsted Codes of Practice, up-to-date legislations, and expectations of the relevant inspecting bodies are adhered to.
